For pianists, there is a choice of two examination boards (ABRSM & Trinity).
ABRSM has grades 1 to 8 and Trinity have an ‘Initial’ grade, followed by grades 1 to 8. Both boards are accredited by OfQual and their qualifications are regulated within the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF). Grades 6 to 8 attract UCAS points for those considering further study.
I will usually suggest the most suitable board for a particular candidate. Reasons for choosing one board over another might include age, length of time the candidate has been playing, repertoire preference, relative ability at sight reading and aural skill.
If you, or your child, is interested in taking exams, why not get in touch so we can discuss the options?
